At Dub Academy, our mission is to empower young minds through innovative electronic music education.

To be able to consistently deliver our mission, we rely on a wide variety of funding sources including grants, private donations, fundraisers, and more. We know that not everyone is financially capable of supporting our work, but there are a few quick and easy things that you can do to support Dub Academy that don’t require making a donation (however, we are more than happy to receive financial contributions, just head over to our Donate page). Please take the time today to help us to continue to do our work and develop an even bigger presence in the community. For more information or to donate or volunteer, email us.

Here are just a few ways that you can help:

1. Purchase a "You Maqui Me Crazy" smoothie at Juiceland in August:
The smoothies are all priced under $10, and make for a great, healthy treat on a hot day. Read more about the health benefits of raspberries, bananas, maqui, and more of the ingredients that make up this smoothie. And be sure you snatch it up during the month of August, because 50% of the proceeds go straight to Dub Academy!

2. Vote for us in the SXSW Panel Picker:
After a great time interacting with educators at the 2015 SXSW Edu conference, we’ve submitted a panel idea for the SXSW Edu conference in 2016, and public votes count for 30% of the total selection score. Participating in the 2016 conference would be a huge opportunity to further introduce Dub Academy to the world, thus increasing our community impact. Sure, you have to create a login on the SXSW site, but then you get all of the up-to-date SX news in your inbox. Or just unsubscribe.

3. Designate us as beneficiaries when you shop on Amazon:
OK, so maybe this one does require you to spend some money, but if you’re already buying yourself a new book, some music, or a year’s supply of toilet paper with that Prime account, a percentage of what you spend should get kicked back somewhere, right? To designate Dub Academy, shop through the Smile.Amazon.com link, then choose Dub Academy as your beneficiary.

4. Donate goods:
There are always a few things that Dub Academy needs to help keep things running; not having to spend money on them means that we can put more money into our programs. We always have a need for things like office supplies (printer ink, printer paper, dry erase boards, batteries, etc), bottled water and snacks, and gently used DJ and production gear and Mac products that we can use when we take our show on the road to let kiddos try things out. Email us if you have something to donate!

5. Volunteer:
Very often your time is just as valuable as your money, and Dub Academy has plenty of ways that you can share your time to help the music community. We are currently looking for volunteers for street teamers, event tablers, fundraising professionals (especially grant writers and reviewers), PR professionals/bloggers, and administrative help. Shoot us an email for a full job description.

6. Host a Fundraiser:
As a small non-profit, raising funds can be a somewhat difficult, and that's where we can really use help from our friends and supporters. Have a great idea for a fundraiser? We would love to hear about it and help out. In the past we've had events hosted by Jackie Venson and $3 Shows, as well as private fundraisers hosted by individuals amongst their friends.

7. Follow, Friend, Share, etc:
As a young, innovative organization, we’re naturally on pretty much all of the social networks. Be sure to link up with us on Facebook (we have a Social account, a Business page, a Studio page, and a Community group), Instagram, Twitter, Pinterest, YouTube, Spotify, and Soundcloud. You can also check out our weekly event picks on our Do512 All Star page. Tell your friends about us, share our posts, and forward this newsletter on to someone who might be interested in what Dub Academy does. Thanks for spreading the love!

Join us this Sunday, August 16, as we say farewell to summer (but unfortunately not summer temperatures) and welcome in the fall semester. From 4-6pm at Exploded Records (inside Juiceland on Duval), our DJ 102 summer camp students will be showing off what they learned at camp this year during their final performance.  A few of our seasoned students will be there to help get the party going, as well. It's also a great way to meet some of our instructors, and any teens that sign up for fall classes at the event receive 10% off their registration! Speaking of discounts, Exploded Records will also have 15% off almost everything in the store from 3-6pm, so it's a great time to stock up on some vinyl.

And while you're there, be sure to try the "You Maqui Me Crazy" smoothie (learn more about the great ingredients in this smoothie in the previous blog post)-50% of proceeds from the sale of this smoothie go straight to Dub Academy's youth programs!
