sponsor a student
Sponsoring a student is a great way to help ensure that music and arts education is accessible to everyone, regardless of income. Even if you're not able to fully sponsor a student, a donation toward their goal would be greatly appreciated. Students who are sponsored by members of the community receive additional counseling and follow up to ensure that they are meeting their full potential as musicians and artists. Get to know some of the students who are interested in learning at Dub Academy. If you are interested in sponsoring a student, please contact the Director of Community Outreach.
Sebastian is an award-winning honor student and lifetime musician. His family is experiencing financial hardship and is currently unable to continue his music education. As a young child, Sebastian participated in five years of Kindermusic classes and by 6 was studying classical guitar. At 7 he started formal piano lessons and made his live performance debut at the famous Broken Spoke in South Austin at age 10. That same year he performed with the rock band Electric Tiger. He was a member of the Austin Children's Choir for two years. Sebastian has enjoyed doing production work in GarageBand and believes a course of study at Dub Academy is what he needs to take his skills to the next level (and in a new and exciting direction.) He plays soccer and is also involved in community service. He was accepted into the youth leadership development program, Urban Roots; it was an unforgettable experience that gave him a new appreciation for diversity.
